Programs
Multi-National Ministries provides a multi-faceted program including educational, recreational, social, and spiritual activities.
Educational:
MNM has a number of academic enrichment programs to help them attain academic success and learn English more quickly.
- Monday Night Reading – This is a one-on-one reading program pairing volunteer readers with elementary aged refugee/immigrant children. It is wonderful time of 75-100 children reading, earning rewards, and building friendships.
- Homework Help – Because most of the parents do not speak English, the refugee/immigrant students have a huge problem trying to do their homework. Two days a week, MNM offers the help, supplies and leaders to help the students correctly complete their daily assignments and projects. The ratio of volunteer tutors to students is about 1:2.
- Summer Fun School – To prevent children from forgetting English and what they learned during the school year, MNM has a three day a week summer school that concentrates on basic math, reading, and English skills.
- English For Moms & Preschool Readiness – Because cultural and family issues, it can be very difficult for refugee/immigrant women to attend evening English Classes. So, MNM offers several early morning beginning English classes within selected Memphis City Schools. After Moms drop their school aged children off, they then can bring their preschool children with them to the English For Moms class.
Spiritual
- Wednesday Kids – Every Wednesday at least 75 students of all ages come to a little Bible Fun time. Kids are grouped by gender and age. Each group reads a Bible story, has a snack and a fun activity or craft.
- Bible Clubs – Fun, high energy times for middle and high school kids that give them a safe time to be together, play, have fun, and hear a little bit about how much God loves them.
Recreational
- Summer Camp – Every summer, MNM provides overnight camping experiences for over 100 refugee/immigrant students…for free!
- Soccer – One constant throughout all of the cultures seems to be soccer…they love it! So, we play whenever we can and attend the games of the kids who are on their school teams.
- Fun Stuff – We always have a blast taking the kids and moms on outings and fun experiences of all kinds!
