Welcome Strangers

Here are just a few words from the Bible that give us some insight

on how to treat ‘strangers’  - the refugees and immigrants

in our community and city

So you also must love strangers.  Remember that you yourselves were strangers in Egypt     Deuteronomy 10:19

Share your belongings with your needy fellow Christians and open you homes to strangers.      Romans 12:13

Jesus will say…”I was hungry and you fed me.  I was thirsty and you gave me a drink.  I was a stranger and you invited me in…”  Then the people will say, “What are you talking about?  When did we do that?”  They the King will say, “Whenevery you did on of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me..you did it to me.      Mark 25:36-40

Do not forget to welcome strangers.  By doing that, some people have welcomed angels without knowing it.          Hebrews 13:2

So you are no longer strangers and outsiders.  You are citizens together with God’s people.  You are members of God’s family.      Ephesians 2:19

Speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves.  Speak up for the rights of all those who are poor.  Speak up and judge fairly.  Speak up for the rights of those who are poor and needy.      Proverbs 13:8,9

Jesus asked, “What do you think?  Which of the three became a neighbor to the man attacted by robbers?”   ”The one who treated him kindly.” the religious scholar responded.  Jesus said. “Go and do the same.”      Luke 10

This world is not our permanent home;  we are looking forward to a home yet to come.        Hebrews 13:14

Suppose an outsider lives with you in your land.  Then do not treat him badly.  Treat him as if he were one of your own people.  Love him as you love yourself.             Leviticus 19:33-34

God told Abram, “Leave your country, your family, and your father’s home for a land that I will show you.       Genesis 12

Solomon prayed:  “Suppose there are strangers who don’t belong to your people Israel.  And they have come from a land far away.  They’ve come because they’ve heard about your name.  When they get here, they will find out even more about your great name.  They will hear about how you reached out your mighty hand and powerful arm.  So they’ll come and pray.”      IKings 8:41

Jesus said, “Foxes have holes, birds have nexts, but the Son of Man has no where to rest His head.”        Matthew 8:20

Later she gave birth to a son, and Moses names him Gershom, for he explained, “I have been a stranger in a strange land.”        Exodus 2:22
